Thoroughly immersed in (and enjoying) Mobile Photography

When my husband gave me an iPhone at the end of 2010, it's potential as an ever present camera (forget communication!) was apparent immediately. I certainly wasn't wrestling with  my beloved Nikon every day; I was too busy wrestling with my lively bag of eels (children). Oh, and the ability to edit on the hoof literally sang to me.

It wasn't until a year later that I started using Instagram (suddenly remember communication!) This has opened the door to some amazing work by Mobile Street, Fine Art and Documentary Photographers. Plus some great feedback, support and generosity in knowledge sharing.

The social networks i'm updating most frequently are Instagram (awozy if accessing via the app or http://www.statigr.am/awozy) and EyeEm (awozy via the app or http://www.eyeem.com/awozy).

I still adore my SLR (and the simple beauty of my prime 50mm!) I still want an X100! But that said, i'm definitely, completely, totally immersed in personal photography projects on a daily basis through using my mobile phone. I'm just not too sure my husband still thinks it was a good idea giving me the phone ;)

AMPt Challenge Winner!

I'm really chuffed that one of my images won an AMPt competition today (www.ampteam.org) . I've followed the international collective 'Advanced Mobile Photography Team' since I added mobile photography to my 'kit' last year and am especially pleased because I really rate their work to promote and advance mobile photography as an art form.   (bi-G cheesy G-rin)

See No Evil Graffiti Project Bristol

The 'See No Evil' graffiti project in Bristol is designed to be Britain's biggest street art project. It's certainly impressive, I found myself nodding in admiration! Waiting for the bus is a whole different experience down on Nelson street. I took this on my second visit and I was one of many, many people taking pictures.

Autumn Evenings Indoors

Nice to be indoors when the Autumn winds are blowing and the rain's slanting in. This is lovely Sal sat serenely in the pub on Saturday night. She should have been doing a victory dance for beating me hands down at pool!

Heather on the beach

This was taken down in Dartmouth on the bank holiday weekend. I was chatting to my friend Heather, who I hadn't seen for a couple of years, and I couldn't resist taking this pic. Blues and yellows everywhere, even in the reflection of the windbreak in her sunglasses.

Balloons!

Following a weekend of late night catching up with family, we woke the kids up at 5.30am to go and see the early morning ascent at the balloon fiesta. Nice, despite candles being burnt at both ends. Beautiful colours, burly blokes pulled off their feet and low flying baskets.

Wedding Yurt Photo Shoot Showcased by The Boho Wedding Blog

The sun is out AND the Wedding Yurt Photo Shoot (below) has been showcased by The Boho Wedding Blog! Turning out to be a pretty good day! http://tinyurl.com/3ty3myq

Exclusive Photography for weddingyurts.co.uk Launch

Back in June I was contacted by Lizzie Jones of chocolateharlotparlour.co.uk She needed a photographer for a photo shoot she was organising with two other businesses avaeventstyling.co.uk and theweddingclub.co.uk.

Lizzie's beautiful Yurt hire business was branching out into wedding hire and she wanted to show the capability of the Yurts to create an amazing venue for weddings and honeymoons, showcasing different moods.

The shoot went ahead on a typical British summers day, with a tempest throwing its worst at us. The Yurts coped brilliantly in the wind and rain, showing they really are a viable venue to be relied on.

Following the shoot, Lizzie created a sister website, specific to wedding hire www.weddingyurts.co.uk This has now been launched, with photography exclusively by me. Yay! It's really exciting to see it up and running :-)

Alice In Wonderland (Yurt In The Woods)

We wanted to highlight the ability of the Yurts to put you in amongst natural surroundings; whatever the weather! These images were taken when it started to rain and we moved from the lakeside to under the trees. The model commented that she felt a little like Alice in Wonderland which I loved! I researched vintage Alice illustrations and was inspired by some bronzed drawings which I felt really reflected the mood, weather and lighting of the day.

Hippie Chic (The Cream Yurt)

The relaxed mood for the cream yurt was set by the 60s styling, model’s clothes and laid-back manner. I echoed the warmth of the textiles in the images, typical of photographs from this time.

The Big Wheel (The Big Yurt)

A wonderful feature of the big yurt is the airy wheel in the roof, letting light flood in (whilst keeping the driving rain out!). I kept the lighting very simple to allow the wheel’s silhouette prominence.

Sun, Sea, Cream Tea

Had a great week down in Devon. Great week! Didn't indulge in a cream tea, but only because it didn't occur to me at the time. Did dig out the bucket and spade though, and take a spin in the sea (360 degrees, straight back out!)

Bon Voyage Paul, Kat and Maya

They're off! Paul, Kat and Maya are packing their bags and heading for the Lone Star State! We're so excited for them and wishing them all the luck in the world (whilst reserving the right to feel a little bit sad to see them go).

Planning a shoot before they left took a good deal of jiggery-pokery but i'm so glad we managed it. Paul and Kat wanted some memories of one of Maya's favourite haunts in Bristol, the SS Great Britain. We had a fantastic time, the ship is an amazing museum.

More images soon but for now, Safe Journey. Texas is acquiring a class act :-)
